Cyclists
participating in Bike to Work Day can get pampered with refreshments,
words of encouragement and free T-shirts by dropping by a pit stop sponsored by the city
of Santee this Friday, May 30.
The
city’s Community Services Department will staff the Bike-to-Work booth at the
intersection of Mast and Carlton Hills boulevards from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Last
year, we distributed snacks, soft drinks and shirts to 19 bicyclists
participating in the event.
Santee’s pit stop will be among 90 set up throughout San Diego
County on Bike to Work Day, a national event observed annually on the third
Friday in May.
Last
year, more than 8,400 people countywide signed up for Bike to Work Day and
logged more than 216,000 bicycle commute miles during the month of May.
Bike-to-Work
Day participants can become eligible for weekly prize drawings by registering
